We are recruiting for Consultant Psychiatrists to join the 3 NHS Trusts offering Mental Health services within the West Yorkshire region. If you’ve never heard of Yorkshire, you’re in for a surprise. It covers an area of around 12,000 square kilometres and is incredibly diverse - large modern and busy cities, beautiful national parks, isolated moorland and amazing coastlines. It’s simply a great place to live and work.
We are recruiting for Consultant Medical Oncologists to join our Non-Surgical Oncology services delivered by the six NHS trusts within the West Yorkshire region. This is an exciting opportunity for you to contribute to a more collaborative way of delivering Non-Surgical Oncology services across our region operating as two sectors comprising the ‘north’ and ‘south’ of the region.

This will ensure that your journey is as seamless and as stress free as possible throughout your application process and, should you be successful, your relocation to England.
What you need
To join the Programme you will need to:
have current or recent practice at Consultant level in the relevant field
hold an English Language qualification (IELTS), if English is not your first language
have a willingness to relocate to England and join the NHS on an initial three year contract from mid-2023 onwards
have not been previously refused a UK Visa or told you are ineligible to receive one
have not been previously told you are ineligible to register with the UK General Medical Council (GMC)
hold a CCT, or be within six months of completion
If qualified outside the UK, postgraduate training and qualifications in the relevant specialty recognised by the GMC for entry on to the specialist register.

What areas of England does the Programme cover?
We are recruiting for Consultant Medical Oncologists to join our Non-Surgical Oncology services delivered by the six NHS trusts within the West Yorkshire region. This is an exciting opportunity for you to contribute to a more collaborative way of delivering Non-Surgical Oncology services across our region operating as two sectors comprising the ‘north’ and ‘south’ of the region. You will be employed by one of our two lead provider trusts for Non-Surgical Oncology, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (south sector) or Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (north sector) and you will support clinical service delivery across other providers within the sector, according to service need and your area of expertise. We anticipate that the first successful applicants will be based in the south sector and in particular we are seeking those with experience in breast, colorectal, urology (prostate) and lung cancer.
Regardless of which trust you are employed by, or work in, we can offer you the opportunity to further develop your expertise, oncology specialism or research interests alongside leading experts in their field.

Successful candidates will be employed by one of the two lead provider trusts for Non-Surgical Oncology:
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (south sector)
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust employs over 6500 staff and serves a combined population of 465,000 people providing a range of acute and community services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic services. The Trust provides a comprehensive service to patients both referred with suspected cancer as well as those already diagnosed and treats all common cancers for patients living in the Calderdale and Huddersfield areas.
The main hospital sites are situated in pleasant residential settings close to the town centres of Huddersfield and Halifax, with good housing and schools nearby and a range of local attractions supporting your work life balance. The Leeds Cancer Centre, within Leeds Teaching Hospitals trust, is one of the most prestigious oncology developments in the UK, providing an ideal infrastructure for high quality multidisciplinary cancer services and ensuring the best outcomes for the catchment population of West Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Cancer Network.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals is one the largest teaching hospital trusts in Europe, with access to leading clinical expertise and medical technology. We care for people from all over the country as well as the residents of Leeds itself and operates from seven hospitals on five sites – all linked by the same vision, philosophy and culture to be the best for specialist and integrated care.
The trust has a budget of £1 billion. Our 15,000 staff ensure that every year we see and treat 1,500,000 people in our 2,000 beds or out-patient settings, comprising 100,000 day cases, 125,000 in-patients, 200,000 A&E visits and 1,050,000 out-patient appointments.
The oncology service covers a local population of 800,000, as well as receiving regional referrals for some clinical trials, treating 600 patients each year, delivering 1400 cycles of systemic anti-cancer therapy for early breast cancer and 2600 cycles of systemic anti-cancer therapy and supportive therapy for metastatic disease and has an active clinical research portfolio, recruiting patients to systemic therapy trials for early and advanced disease.
