Alberta Health Services, Central Zone, is actively recruiting a full-time General Practitioner for the Seniors Inpatient Addiction & Mental Health Units at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury (CCMHBI), an award winning, major psychiatric facility located in Ponoka, Alberta. Medical doctors in this program provide ongoing medical care to patients in collaboration with attending psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary team. This position requires a scope of practice that includes Inpatient services and the On-Call program at the facility.┬á

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Reside in and have as his/her primary residence within the community of Ponoka, or immediate surrounding area;

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Provide equitable call assistance as per the on-call schedule for the facility, as required;┬á

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Department of Family Medicine;

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care

Required Qualifications

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Family Physicians (CCFP);

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Recent and relevant experience (within the past 12 months) in all areas of practice required,as the sole provider;

┬áDesired Qualifications

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

┬À┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á Methadone/Suboxone Training┬á
