Covenant Health in partnership with Alberta Health Services and the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta, invites applications for a Family Medicine Physician to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.

The successful applicants will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

The successful candidate will have responsibilities for clinical service, working with a multidisciplinary team (physicians, nurse practitioners, unit manager, RN, LPN, social worker, case workers, and admin support) in the Pediatrics for Kids in Care (PKIC) program based primarily at the modern and custom-designed clinic space at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital. The program works in partnership with Child and Family Services (CFS), with a focus on the well-being and medical needs of at risk and often socially vulnerable children. This program provides children in care with a medical home for consistency of care. The program collaborates across medical disciplines and within multiple government ministries (Education, Justice, Children's Services and Health). The program provides education to medical learners at various levels of training.

Required:

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years clinical experience. An ability to work with all ages including newborns, children, adolescents and adults, plus knowledge of child development and an ability to recognize delays in development are essential.  An understanding of the developmental needs of children who experience physical and emotional trauma is particularly valuable. Willingness to contribute to child abuse examinations as appropriate along with the pediatrician is required.  Experience and/or training in managing the physical, mental, and emotional health needs (in addition to supports provided via the clinic team) of both children and parents is an asset. Having a working knowledge of Family and Child Services is an asset. Familiarity with Connect Care is an asset. The candidates should have necessary interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with academic and community colleagues.
