Respiratory TherapistMiddlebury, VTJob Description:To plan, implement and perform respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic regimes for the care of patients for whom services are indicated.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Cardio-pulmonary ResuscitationOperation, maintenance, and management of related equipment including mechanical ventilatorsPatient transportation (internal, external, as staffing allows)Blood gas drawing, analysis and interpretationSampling blood from invasive cardiovascular linesArtificial airway managementAerosolized drug administrationOxygen therapyHumidity therapyContinuous positive airway pressure therapy (CPAP)Bilevel CPAPPulse oximetryPulmonary function testing (bedside and in diagnostic lab)Incentive spirometry (IS)Chest Physiotherapy and airway clearance techniquesPatient assessmentPatient educationEffective communication with other departmentsOperation of all equipment in accordance with department policyEquipment disinfectionQuality control of all equipmentActive participation in the departments Quality Assurance ProgramParticipation in in-service education programMust-Haves:Prior to start date, must obtain State of Vermont Respiratory Therapy LicensureAssociate degree from AMA approved program for Respiratory CareCertified or Registered Respiratory Therapist or eligibility to take the NBRC written examination within one year of hireReliable transportation as there is limited public transportationNice-To-Haves:Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certification preferredAt least one year of work history as a Respiratory Therapist in the hospital settingAbility to work independently
