Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for the position of Medical Director, Southern Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Program. In accordance with AHS policies, values and directions, this leadership role is responsible for the medical aspects of the Southern Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation program (SAOTD).
1. Act in a parallel fashion and liaise with the Administrative Director of the SAOTD program
2. Co-chair the SAOTD program Advisory Committee with the Administrative Director of the SAOTD program.
3. Provide medical direction, consultation and advice to donor coordinators in case of organ and/or tissue donation.
4. In collaboration with the Director, be ultimately responsible for the following:
a. The formulation and implementation of the standard operating policies and procedures;
b. All medical and technical procedures performed by the establishment;
c. The exceptional distribution of organs;
d. The performance and documentation of audits as required;
e. Compliance with the standard operating policies and procedures;
f. the investigation, with appropriate notification and reporting of errors, accidents and adverse reactions, complaints and recalls.
Qualifications include:
· Proven leadership, communication, organizational, change management, team building and facilitation skills.
· Expertise in developing and providing resources, consultation, and collaborative support to stakeholder teams.
· Ability to design, tailor, implement and evaluate effective strategies to meet identified priorities.
· Experience in supporting and promoting clinical best practice and experience as a change agent.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, well developed interpersonal skills, ability to cultivate positive relationships and passion for patient safety.
· Alberta Health Services privileges to practice at AHS facilities.
· Expertise or experience in organ and tissue donation and/or transplant procedures are not necessarily required, but are valued in this role.
