Central Alberta Digestive Disease Specialists is seeking Gastroenterologists to fill fee for service clinical positions at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. Physicians with sub-specialty training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease or hepatology are encouraged to apply, but this training is not mandatory for all vacancies.

The Red Deer Regional Hospital is currently planning an expansion. Within this build is the development of a 6 suite endoscopy unit with dedicated space and technology for advanced therapeutics and inpatient capacity expansion to 400 acute care beds.

 

Our support services include two IBD nurses and a cirrhosis nurse. The Central Alberta Digestive Disease Specialists are a group of 4 physicians serving the Central Zone of Alberta. As part of the Gastroenterology team, you will share clinical space, on call and endoscopy time, with no requirement of Internal Medicine or Intensive Care Unit call coverage. The Gastroenterology on-call is purely consultative, and the division does not directly admit patients. We offer:

The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre supports the over 450,000 residents of the Central Alberta Zone by providing approximately 12,000 endoscopic procedures annually. Services provided include upper gastroscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopic retrograde pancreatogram (ERCP). There are currently 5 gastroenterologists and 10 surgeons participating in endoscopy services. Two gastroenterologists in the Central Zone are trained in performing ERCP’s and one is anticipating retirement within the year. Surgical specialties represented include colorectal, bariatric, and thoracic. With the facility expansion we are anticipating growth in the capacity of our endoscopy unit.

    • Candidates must hold a valid and relevant license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
    • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC)
    • Applicant must also be able to provide proof of participation in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs
