Band 4 Dental Nurse JD December 20222PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIESClinical1. Prepare the surgeries, including preparation of instruments, materials and equipmentrequired for all surgical/ orthodontic procedures.2. Work alongside Consultants and Specialty Doctors with surgical procedures both underlocal and general anaesthesia.3. To attend wards and ED when required with Consultant or Specialty Doctor and assist withany procedure necessary should the need arise.4. To provide four handed dentistry throughout patients treatment where required. Act uponclinician requests whilst providing chair side assistance.5. To communicate and co-ordinate effectively with appropriate clinicians, staff, professionalbodies and external agencies.6. To give patient and/ or patients relative (or representative) verbal and written instructionsprior to and following any Max Fax or Orthodontic procedures7. Advise, triage and prioritise patients to ensure they receive the appropriate care.8. Recognises, responds to and appropriately manages emergency situations.9. Maintain high standards of cleanliness in clinical and non clinical areas including weeklycleaning routines. Complete cleaning records in line with Trust policy and guidelines.10. Restocking of clinics after each session.11. Ensure correct disinfection of impressions before dispatch to laboratory.12. Liaise with the laboratory to ensure patients laboratory work is complete.13. Ensure all specimens obtained reach the hospital pathology department safely on a dailybasis.14. Ensure that instruments are sent to Synergy for decontamination in a timely fashion. Trackthe instruments as they leave and return to the department. Raise any queries with SeniorDental Nurses or Department Manager/ Sister15. Process and upload radiographs complying with current regulations.16. Maintaining levels of in house patient information leaflets.17. Undertake any other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the Senior Dental Nurse orDepartment Manager/ Sister.Band 4 Dental Nurse JD December 20223Non Clinical1. Contribute to educational and nursing audits and the subsequent implementation of actionplans.2.
