CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST, DRUG & ALCOHOL RECOVERY SERVICE

£96,963 - £128,841 per annum
We seek to appoint a consultant in addictions psychiatry to join our busy Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services (DARS) based across NHS Highland. You will be one of two psychiatrists, working in collaboration with wider DARS multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist services within a variety of urban and rural communities across the North Highland region.
In addition to undertaking direct clinical work within defined localities, there is a consultative/ supervisory element to the role, including supporting the development of medical and non medical staff in the delivery of specialist treatment interventions. i.e. Non Medical Prescribers / Advanced Nurse Prescribers.
Within your role you will work with others to co-produce interventions aimed at supporting recovery and reducing harm, e.g. implementation of Medication Assisted Treatment Standards (MAT).
The recent pandemic has accelerated our existing capacity to deliver this service using digital technology, which opens up further opportunity to the post holder. The post is based in the Mental Health Service in the South and Mid Operational Unit but due to the geography covered by the post it is possible for the post holder to live in any suitable location by negotiation. This is a full time post (1.0 WTE).
Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register in General Adult Psychiatry (with an endorsement in Substance Misuse Psychiatry) or within 6 months of award of CCT by date of interview as consideration can be given to appoint on a proleptic basis.
This post requires participation in the Consultant on call rota at New Craigs Hospital; current rota frequency is 1: 16, availability supplement 3%. Applications for flexible working will be considered.
