Rockhampton Hospital is the largest hospital in Central Queensland and the main referral hub for the region. Rockhampton Hospital will play an important role in achieving the objectives set out in our Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy ( https://www.health.qld.gov.au/cq/destination-2030 )1. We will deliver expert care close to home by investing in a range of specialist services at Rockhampton Hospital for all Central Queenslanders.
The Rockhampton Hospital has four operating theatres and two procedure rooms. The operating theatre complex is supported by a 10 bed ICU/HDU. The Department is accredited for specialist training and is heavily involved in teaching and research. Rockhampton Hospital performed 6,771 elective surgeries during 2021 financial year. Our highly skilled theatre staff also delivered 3,398 emergency surgeries.
This is an exciting prospect to further develop the long-standing Urology Services in Central Queensland. For the last 5 years, a Service Level Agreement, with the Princess Alexandra Hospital within Metro South, has provided this service. Our future plans involve a stand-alone Urological unit. The appointed Surgeons will join a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) to contribute toward the realisation of this vision.
To be successful in this role you must have MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
