About the role
As a graduate Occupational Therapist, you will be delivering Occupational Therapy clinical services as a member of a multidisciplinary team to stakeholders/customers of Queensland Health.

The First Nations Allied Health Graduate Pathway will provide a culturally safe and supportive entry to practice. The Pathway is two years in duration and includes enhanced training, development and cultural mentoring support. There is dedicated time provided to complete the pathway equivalent to 1 day/fortnight.

In this role you will work in a variety of clinical areas including acute wards and rehabilitation settings. Supervision will be provided to optimise clinical and professional skill development and learning. Professional development opportunities are also available to enhance clinical experience. Graduates are additionally supported by the Clinical Education Support Officer who provides support and mentorship during this transitionary period and facilitates a peer group community of practice and peer group learning opportunities.

Role requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Occupational Therapy, and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • This position is required to work on weekends on a rostered basis as part of the Occupational Therapy Weekend Service.
