Fixed Term Temporary Full-time or Part-time up to two (2) years, hours negotiable.

Pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value of up to $529,548 p.a. comprising base salary range of $176,802 - $258,910 p.a. (full-time) or $84.71 - $124.05 p.h. (part-time) (L13-L27), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%). attraction and retention incentive allowance (up to 50% base salary), regional and rural attraction allowance (5% base salary), motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,000 p.a., professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave, private practice arrangements, communications package, professional indemnity cover and inaccessibility allowance (if applicable). Plus, Clinical Managers Allowance $7858 p.a.

About the role
Magnetic Island is a beautiful tropical island 8 kilometres offshore from Townsville. It boasts a unique natural environment of palm-fringed beaches, large granite boulders, hoop pines and fringing coral reefs.

The Magnetic Island Health Service (MIHS) provides emergency and clinical nursing services to residents and visitors to Magnetic Island. It offers nurse-led clinics Monday to Friday and a 24-hours a day, seven day a week on-call service for emergencies. Such clinics include telehealth for specialist appointments, wound care, ante/postnatal care as well as access to a clinical social worker.

The role of the Medical Superintendent or Senior Medical Superintendent with Right of Private Practice is to provide high quality general practice including managing clinical emergencies to benefit the patients / clients of the MIHS.  It is expected the successful applicant would split their time between General Practice on the island and supporting the MIHS. 

Role requirements
Qualified as a medical practitioner, qualifications in speciality areas and current registration and / or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association

Fellowship of either the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) is highly desirable.
