The Role:
As an O&G Registrar you will be overseeing patient care in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department. Your primary responsibility is to collaborate with Consultants, GP Obstetricians, Nurses, Midwives, and Allied Health professionals. Your duties encompass the assessment and management of uncomplicated deliveries and pregnancy cases, active participation in scheduled elective and emergency theatre sessions, attendance at outpatient and antenatal clinics, and the management of the labour ward in partnership with the midwifery team. Additionally, your role extends to overseeing pre-admission clinics and providing care to patients in Accident and Emergency as needed. Actively contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives and educational activities within the practice, you will also supervise medical students and interns.

One of the city's prominent attractions is the Blue Lake, a large crater lake famous for its vibrant blue color. The lake's color changes dramatically during the year, ranging from steel blue in winter to a vivid turquoise in the summer.
 
The Hospital
This is a key regional facility that provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care by local general practitioners to specialist surgical, obstetric, paediatric and anaesthetic services delivered by medical consultants. The facility delivers services to over 94,000 people and a further 175,000 people annually at country emergency departments. Their network incorporates 65 hospitals and 240 health services sites, and employs 7,925 people. The service is the largest hospital in rural South Australia and has been identified in the Government's 'Plan for Country Health' as one of the four general hospitals which will provide treatment for country people closer to home.
 
The Requirements
  • Bachelor of Medicine or an equivalent qualification
  • Current AHPRA Registration and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of contemporary medical practice and procedures appropriate to the level of the position, you will be competent in range of routine and common procedural ward-based skills, specifically in relation to obstetric management and assessment.
