The Position
Exciting career prospects await as a Paediatric Registrar within the Women and Children's Division. In this dynamic role, you will take charge of overseeing the comprehensive care of both inpatient and outpatient paediatric patients assigned to you within the Department of Paediatrics. Your collaborative efforts will involve working closely with Registrars, Resident Medical Officers, Consultants, Midwives, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioner candidates, and Allied Health professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide vital support to the Emergency Department for the effective management of paediatric patients.
2. Facilitate the referral and transport process for children transferred for inpatient care.
3. Engage in a 7-day, 24-hour roster spanning Paediatrics and Level 5 Neonatology.
4. Contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement activities and participate in auditing processes.
5. Actively engage in ongoing training and meet continuing professional development requirements.
6. Play a key role in teaching junior medical, nursing, and midwifery staff, as well as medical students.
7. Rotate through various roles in the Department, including Ward Registrar duties in the Children’s Ward and Special Care Nursery.
8. Perform neonatal examinations and oversee resident Medical Officers and midwives conducting such examinations.
9. Attend the Labour Ward and Theatre during times when Neonatal assistance is required.
10. Rotate through the Emergency Department to attend to paediatric patients.
11. Participate in Paediatric and Neonatal Outpatient Clinics to manage new and review patients, under the guidance of Consultants.

Situated approximately 25 kilometers north of the Adelaide central business district. It is part of the broader Elizabeth area, which was originally developed in the mid-20th century as part of a planned satellite city to accommodate Adelaide's growing population.

The Requirements

• Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
• Appointment subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check.
• Compliance with appropriate immunisation requirements.
