Role responsibilities

  • Clinical Practice:
    • Deliver high level dietetic services (which include screening, assessment, intervention and evaluation) within the Townsville HHS and outreach areas to patients with chronic kidney disease in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, with a high degree of independence and infrequent need for clinical practice supervision.
    • Apply professional judgement to a complex caseload, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence.
    • Contribute to clinical research activities within the area of dietetic practice.
  • Communication/Team Participation:
    • Provide general clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors, relevant service managers and other stakeholders regarding service delivery.
    • Work cooperatively and effectively within a team and with patients / clients.
  • Leadership / Work Unit Management:
    • Monitor and report on clinical practices and outcomes within clinical service area and actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of dietetic and chronic kidney disease services.
    • Provide clinical practice supervision to HP3 dietetic practitioners and clinical assistants to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards within Townsville HHS.

Generous remuneration package value up to $152,775 p.a.comprising:

  • Salary rates between $4769.60 - $5132.40 p.f. (HP4)
  • 17.5% annual leave loading + leave
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

Employment Term

  • Permanent full-time

Role requirements    

  • Mandatory requirement of a degree qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics from an accredited tertiary institution (or equivalent).
  • Must hold a current Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) credential.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • The department provides services within the Hospital across a 7-day period. The successful candidate to this position will be required to participate in seven-day rostering systems.
