Position Summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Mental Health and Addiction Services – ACT Team department.

Under the direction of the Team Leader of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, this position is responsible for assisting mental health and addiction clients with services as outlined in an individual’s care plan, with the goal of maximizing independent living. The duties include monitoring of client functions, assisting with medications, personal hygiene, meal preparation, socialization, household management, money management, housing, recreation, transportation, training and vocations skills. This position also monitors client behaviors and reports significant changes to the responsible case manager.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Resident Care Attendant Program Certificate and a Community Mental Health Worker Course plus two (2) years’ experience working with clients with a mental illness, or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
• Valid First Aid Certificate and CPR.
• Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
• Food Safe.

• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in the provision of services for individuals who experience living with mental illness and/or addiction.
• Ability to teach.
• Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to organize and develop priorities in an environment of complex and, at times, competing expectations.
• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to work effectively and appropriately with clients/patients and their families who may be experiencing a crisis situation.
