Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone is inviting applications from physicians with a keen interest in ER/Urgent Care to join the Airdrie Urgent Care Centre for a six-month locum position starting in early April 2024.  The locum will provide coverage for both day and night 8-hour shifts; this position will include approximately 6-8 shifts per month.

Airdrie is a vibrant community of over 74,000 people, 30 minutes north of Calgary.  The Urgent Care Centre (UCC) functions as the primary source of urgent medical treatment for all presenting individuals, with 40% presentations being pediatric patients.  The UCC also serves a large catchment area of surrounding communities and north Calgary.  

Qualifications: 

  • The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
  • Be certified in Family Medicine with the Canadian College of Family Physicians or certified in Emergency Medicine with the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have at least one year of experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting.
    • Must be comfortable with managing a wide range of high acuity presentations, including sedation and resuscitation.
  • Be certified in ACLS, PALS, and training in conscious sedation such as ProSed.
  • Must read, write and speak English.
