The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology in partnership with Alberta Health Services invites applications for an Academic position in Nephrology to be based at the University of Alberta.  Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to 39,000 students with more 15,000 faculty and staff.  

 

The Division of Nephrology and Immunology at the University of Alberta provides care to a large group of patients with chronic and end-stage kidney disease and has a large adherence area. The division strives for clinical excellence and always is improving care delivery for our patients. The Division is also research-intensive. Research spans the spectrum from fundamental and translational work through epidemiology and care implementation research in general nephrology and transplantation immunology. The Division considers education a high priority and provides leadership to the educational and administrative activities of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, and Alberta Health Services.

 

Key accountabilities for the one position will include but are not limited to: inpatient kidney transplant service, inpatient nephrology and consult service, and outpatient service in kidney transplantation and general nephrology. In addition, it is expected that the candidate supports and participates in clinical improvements programs related to transplant.

The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Medicine, which is in accordance with the university of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefit package.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Nephrology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and have specialized training around transplantation and preferably demonstratable interest in supporting research, quality improvement or education in that area.
