What's on offer?
Permanent Full-time or Part-time, hours negotiable + Fixed Term Temporary Full-time or Part-time up to two (2) years, hours negotiable.

Pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value of up to $497,611 p.a. comprising salary range of $176,802 - $258,910 p.a. (full-time) or $84.71 - $124.05 p.h. (part-time) (L13-L27), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%). Level of appointment is dependent upon experience and advanced qualifications.

  • Attraction and retention incentive allowance (35% base salary)
  • Regional and rural attraction allowance (5% base salary)
  • Motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,500 p.a.
  • Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave
  • Inaccessibility allowance of $13,800 p.a.

Other employment benefits may include salary sacrificing options, on-call and shift allowances, access to corporate discounts and staff wellness programs. Assistance with relocation expenses may also be available.

Eligible health workers who make the move (interstate or international) to work with us may receive up to $70,000 in incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme (conditions apply). About the role
The role of the Senior Medical Officer is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients / clients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS). This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.  Lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting.

Role requirements

  • Qualified as a medical practitioner, qualifications in speciality areas and current registration and/or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Currently enrolled with the Australian General Practice Training Program, or intention to apply to the Program within twelve months of commencement in this role.

Highly desirable
Fellowship of either the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).
