The Role A full-time, ongoing appointment for an ICU Clinical Unit Head. As the Clinical Unit Head, you will provide clinical and medical leadership for the ICU and work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager of the ICU and other Clinical Unit Heads to provide leadership and management required to implement the facilities strategic vision and meet clinical service delivery requirements. The role reports operationally to the Clinical Director of Ambulatory & Critical Care and professionally to the CMO.

The Facility The hospital's ICU is a 16-bed combined facility caring for more than 1000 intensive care, high dependency, and coronary care patients each year. It is the only type of facility like this in the region. A Level 3 facility, it is well-designed, spacious and offers all aspects of modern Intensive Care, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation, renal replacement therapy, plasmapheresis, intra-aortic balloon pump and echocardiography.
The Requirements
Medical Specialist Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Fellow of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand
Demonstrated ability to lead a comprehensive multidisciplinary ICU team
Significant experience working at a senior level in a major ICU
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective service interactions required in the operation of a busy ICU service
Comprehensive understanding of professional, legal, and ethical principles in the domain of end of life decisions as they relate to Intensive Care services.
Demonstrated understanding of the issues relevant to the conduct of research in the setting of an Intensive Care Unit within the public sector
Desirable : Post-graduate qualifications in areas such as health service management, re-design or clinical governance.
