A Career that Makes a Difference

Prison Health Services (PHS) is a primary care model which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people in prison, and supports them to maintain health improvements after prison, benefiting not only the individual but also the broader community. Working in PHS is a fulfilling and rewarding career path likened to a hospital emergency department crossed with a primary care medical practice. Perhaps the greatest reward associated with this path is the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable cohorts of people.

This role may be eligible for the Queensland Health Attraction Incentive. See link – Workforce attraction incentive scheme | Careers (health.qld.gov.au) ( https://www.careers.health.qld.gov.au/working-for-us/workforce-attraction-incentive-scheme )

About the Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre

The Lockyer Valley is the picturesque ‘food bowl' of South-east Queensland. The region and surrounding towns offer country living with city convenience which makes it an attractive location to live and work. The new centre is just over 30mins drive from Toowoomba, 42mins from Ipswich or just over 1 hour from Brisbane City

Once fully operational, the correctional centre will be a 1536 bed, high secure men's prison. Design and construction of this modern, purpose-built centre focuses on rehabilitation to reduce reoffending. The Queensland Corrective Services operating model of the centre represent a new direction with many services being onsite, including mental health, alcohol, and drug rehabilitation services
