About your opportunity

Permanent full-time 

The Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic will undertake work on domestic, commercial and industrial Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning – Refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems including, planned preventive maintenance and minor works projects as required in the construction and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment that support the THHS facilitation of safe, effective and sustainable healthcare services. 

Skills and experience:

  • Proven ability to undertake manual work, understand technical information and with demonstrable HVAC-R industry experience.
  • Work within a team environment to achieve the goals of a high performing work unit.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills including the ability to work autonomously.
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti- discrimination practices and behaviours as applied in the working environment.

Generous remuneration package value up to $100,064 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $74,302 to $87,702 p.a. (HBEA9-HBEA-6)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • The following mandaatory qualification and professional registration applies to this position
    • Queensland trade certificate in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration
    • Queensland Restricted Electrical Work Licence.
    • C Class motor vehicle licence.
  • While not mandatory, the following professional registrations are considered highly desirable to this position:
    • Arctik Refrigerant Handling Licence
    • QBCC Mechanical Services – Occupational Licence
  • The following knowledge, skills and experience will be highly regarded:
    • Previous experience in operation and maintenance of Chiller Plant and cooling towers, Commercial Refrigeration, and operation of Building Management Systems.
    • Experience or working knowledge of pressure controlled clean room and isolation room equipment.
  • The position will be required to participate in the “ON-CALL” roster for the provision of 24/7 Building Engineering and Maintenance Services.
  • Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate.  Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate.
