The Role
A growing department seeking an Emergency Physician to provide specialist emergency medicine services to the facility including participation in education of medical, nursing and allied health students. 

This ED sees an increasing number in presentations

• Average 80-110 per day
• Approximately 25% are paediatrics

The Location
An easy 2 ½ hours drive from Melbourne and less than an hour to Albury airport with direct flights to most of the large Australian cities. With a population of approximately 30,000 and a catchment serving a community of around 100 000 throughout the northeast, the region is a popular destination year-round. It boasts multiple national parks, picturesque small towns, award winning restaurants, wineries and breweries. 

The Facility
This is a 255 bed acute and extended care facility which provides surgical, medical, paediatric, obstetrics and gynaecology, intensive care and psychiatry services as well as extended care and regional services servicing a catchment population of around 90,000. A high incidence of road accidents, skin cancer, farm injuries and work safety accidents occur in the region. Population numbers swell during the fruit harvest season when an estimated 10,000 itinerant workers from throughout Australia and overseas visit the region. Snake bites, cuts, scratches to the eyes from branches, injuries caused by falling from a fruit picking ladder and allergic reactions are among the most common conditions treated during the this period.

The Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent
• Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine
• Specialist registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA
• Experience in teaching at undergraduate and graduate level
