An exciting opportunity exists for the Oral Health Therapist to contribute to the provision of a high standard of oral health care to all eligible clients of the Oral Health Service for the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) through the delivery of oral health therapy services working within a multidisciplinary team.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south to Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Deliver quality oral health therapy services and oral health promotion to eligible clients in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards under the current Legislative Acts and Code of Practice in accordance with registration requirements of the Dental Board of Australia.
  • Participate in a multidisciplinary team to independently provide and deliver routine clinical oral health therapy services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of dental and oral health conditions within own scope of clinical practice, commensurate with level of experience and within the core range of clinical services provided by the SCHHS Oral Health Service. Undertake increasingly more complex clinical care and patient management under the professional guidance of a more experienced practitioner with the level of guidance decreasing commensurate with increasing experience. Refer patients appropriately for management of conditions outside scope of own clinical practice or level of clinical management experience.
  • Provide routine professional advice and information, liaising effectively with clients, their families and external stakeholders and provide clear direction to the dental assistant, support staff and oral health therapy students (where required).
  • Strive to meet oral health targets within relevant time frames whilst maintaining quality clinical outcomes and utilising resources to full capacity and designated purpose.

Remuneration value up to $128 706 p.a., comprising salary between $74747 - $112 805 p.a. or $2941.70 - $4323.80 p.f. (f/t), or salary rates:  $38.70 - $56.89 p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) and Salary rates: $47.60 - $69.97 p.h. (casual) (HP3) (permanent and fixed term temporary full time, part time and casual positions available). Applications will remain current for 12 months.
