About the role

As a Senior Medical Officer working in our Minor Injury and Illness Clinic (Ripley Satellite Hospital) a successful applicant will be required to practice as a skilled and competent senior generalist.  This requires an applicant who can practice a high level of primary health care provision and emergency medicine, independently, with a broad scope of practice despite limited onsite investigations available. These positions is based at the Ripley Satellite Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a new facility, providing high quality acute primary care medical services in West Moreton Health. This position is responsible for providing high quality services and patient care as well as advanced subspeciality services.

Senior Medical Officers provide leadership in clinical services of the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic that is innovative, encourages participation in treatment and care aimed at achieving demonstratable improvement in patient outcomes.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Passion for providing excellent clinical care to their community as a Senior Medical Officer
  • Experience in delivering quality care in a primary care environment, outpatients setting, and an Emergency Department across a variety of acuity and care needs.
  • Knowledge and practical application of the National Quality & Safety Standards through the delivery of Safe and Quality focussed Patient centred care.
  • Excellent communication and team work skills across a variety of settings including in an emergency

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16(PDF) ( https://www.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/150120/hed-0116.pdf )
  • Possession of a medical degree registered or eligible for general registration with AHPRA.
  • Possession of Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) +/- FARGP or Fellowship with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) will be highly regarded.
