About the role

The role of Birth Suite Administration Officer is to undertake a range of activities that provide effective administrative support, which is patient focused, by providing information and assistance to patients and visitors. The birth suite administration officer contributes to patient flow by performing a support role to nursing and medical staff and recording all patient movements within the Birth Suite and Special Care Nursery, as well as the afterhours support of 5B Childrens Sunshine Ward & 5C Maternity.

  • Technical Knowledge
    • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Knowledge or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of basic medical terminology to extract and interpret pertinent information from patient medical records and hospital information systems
    • Proficiency in the application of internal hospital information systems in addition to Microsoft Word and Excel

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16(PDF) ( https://www.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/150120/hed-0116.pdf )
  • This position is required to work as part of a 24 hour, 7 days per week continuous shift roster.
