About the role
It is the purpose of this role to provide mental health screening and diversion for people appearing before the magistrates' court or detained in the local watch-house. The purpose of this service is the early identification of people with a mental illness to ensure that appropriate mental health treatment, advice or referral is made. The Court Liaison Service (CLS) also provides advice, support and training to court and watch house staff on mental health issues. CLS staff are established in locations across Queensland. The CLS team located within RBWH provides services to courts and watch-houses from the Gold Coast, north to the Sunshine Coast and west to Toowoomba.
