About the role:

This position oversees a team with statutory reporting, audit and compliance accountabilities and asset planning and management. This role is critical in ensuring staff and management meet financial accounting obligations and responsibilities.

This role is responsible for the day-to-day running of the financial accounting functions of the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS) including; month end accounting and reporting, Tridata reporting, year-end accounting and statutory reporting, fixed asset accounting, taxation compliance and financial controls and governance

  • Plan, lead and manage the financial accounting team and to achieve desired outcomes within specific deadlines and approved resource allocations.
  • Implement and continuously improve an effective financial accounting framework for the Service including development, implementation & management of financial and administrative policies, procedures & processes to meet the requirements of CQHHS and Government initiatives as necessary.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification such as Accounting/Business/Finance.
  • A membership with a professional accounting body (eg CPA/CAANZ).
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills - Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills including the ability to lead, persuade, implement change, and liaise, advise, and interact with staff at all levels and external stakeholders.
  • Technical Knowledge - High level knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply concepts, policy, procedures, standards, and legislation relevant to financial accounting, asset accounting, taxation and compliance/ audit.
  • Leadership and Management - Well developed management & supervisory skills with the ability to lead change agendas across both the finance unit and the broader CQHHS.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $161,718 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary between $66.60 - $71.48 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
