This new post has arisen due to the re-design of the Moray Maternity Service.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to join our team who is keen to help to drive forward this development. We are looking for a highly motivated, knowledgeable and credible individual who has the confidence and the interpersonal skills to work in partnership with colleagues across the system and facilitate change.

Working as a Specialist Midwife for Complex Care the post holder will be well placed to provide additional support and guidance to women and families when care becomes increasingly complex. The post holder will have or be supported to gain enhanced education and training in diabetes. The successful candidate will evolve the complex care pathways and will work in collaboration with the medical specialists, diabetic team and obstetric consultants. They will help lead, develop, co-ordinate and continually improve the specialist complex care service within NHS Grampian maternity service and work collaboratively with colleagues in health boards across Scotland.

In this role the post holder will act as an advisor to the other midwives and will demonstrate an advanced level of clinical decision making and responsibility. The successful candidate will provide care through a continuum for the diabetic population and women with complex care which will enhance the future health of the women and their families. The Specialist Midwives for Complex Care support, advice and monitor women’s health and wellbeing during pregnancy and the birth.

The Specialist Midwife will build networks within the community which they can signpost women to, enabling them to take responsibility for their ongoing care. The post holder will work in partnership with midwifery and medical colleagues and the wider allied health professionals to ensure the care provision is high quality, clinically effective and resource efficient.

Travel between sites will be required.
