We are looking for an enthusiastic, clinically experienced Orthotist, with a passion for leading and delivering a high-quality clinical service, to lead NHS Highland’s Orthotics service.
This is a unique opportunity to work in the fast paced setting of a large acute hospital in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
The Orthotics service for NHS Highland is based in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and provides a comprehensive service to in-patient and out-patient care. We are a team of around 10 Orthotists, administrators and technicians. We use our facilities for CADCAM insole modelling and manufacture, plaster modification and on-site manufacture.
Applications are invited from dynamic individuals with a proven scientific and professional record and the enthusiasm to work as part of a team. This post is ideal for someone who has a keen interest in providing a high-quality Orthotics service, as well as supporting other services as part of the Clinical Technology management team (Orthotics, Prosthetics, Wheelchair service and others).
You will have considerable experience as an Orthotist and will manage a complex caseload and respond and adapt quickly to unpredictable and diverse patient caseloads and clinical situations.
You will also have experience as a leader, supervisor, and trainer, though training and ongoing support is available.
This is a varied role, but the main tasks include:
Managing the Orthotics service
Supervising our administrative, clinical and technical teams
Monitoring and reporting service performance
Joining service leads across Scotland on national initiatives?
As clinical lead, working with our patients with the most complex needs
Working flexibly as an Orthotist, including working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Managing clinic schedules and adjusting them to meet the demands upon the service
Managing the orthotic waiting list and triaging referrals
Receiving telephone calls from orthosis users, liaising with their families and care teams, ensuring the correct process routing for a wide variety of enquiries
Working with technical staff, clinicians, administration team and suppliers to ensure orthotic provision in a timely manner.
