To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, clinically experienced Orthotist, with a passion for leading and delivering a high-quality clinical service, to lead NHS Highland’s Orthotics service.

This is a unique opportunity to work in the fast paced setting of a large acute hospital in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.

This post is ideal for someone who has a keen interest in providing a high-quality Orthotics service, as well as supporting other services as part of the Clinical Technology management team (Orthotics, Prosthetics, Wheelchair service and others).

You will have considerable experience as an Orthotist and will manage a complex caseload and respond and adapt quickly to unpredictable and diverse patient caseloads and clinical situations.

You will also have experience as a leader, supervisor, and trainer, though training and ongoing support is available.

This is a varied role, but the main tasks include:
Managing the Orthotics service
Supervising our administrative, clinical and technical teams
Monitoring and reporting service performance
Joining service leads across Scotland on national initiatives?
As clinical lead, working with our patients with the most complex needs
Working flexibly as an Orthotist, including working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Managing clinic schedules and adjusting them to meet the demands upon the service
Managing the orthotic waiting list and triaging referrals
Receiving telephone calls from orthosis users, liaising with their families and care teams, ensuring the correct process routing for a wide variety of enquiries
Working with technical staff, clinicians, administration team and suppliers to ensure orthotic provision in a timely manner.

Informal enquiries and requests to visit the service are very welcome.  To find out more, please contact Owen Mills, Head of Clinical Technology, tel 07929 069 568, email [email protected], or Peter Cook, Head of Medical Physics and Bio-Engineering, tel 01463 705231, email [email protected]
