Trainee Sonographer 12 month training period on Band 6 progressing to Band 7 on completion of training.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ultrasound Department for a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team with an interest in pursuing and developing a career in ultrasound. The successful applicant will undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound. You will join a friendly, forward thinking and highly professional team who will be keen to support your learning and development. 

Essential: ·

All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK, and hold a degree in a relevant health care field. · You must already have UK registration with an appropriate regulatory body. 
(HCPC/NMC). · Post registration clinical experience and have experience of working in the NHS setting Desirable: · 2 years experience of working in an NHS hospital setting.

This post will give you the exciting opportunity to undertake a Post-graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound at Glasgow Caledonian university, with a structured training programme, whilst receiving full-time on the job training. You will be required to attain your post graduate certificate in ultrasound within the required timeframe, usually 12 months. Following this, there will be the opportunity to specialise and attain a post graduate Diploma.

Upon successful completion, you will be a qualified Sonographer (Advanced Ultrasound Practitioner) and will work autonomously within the department to provide a 5 day ultrasound service, with the expectation to provide a 7 day service in the future. 

You will be expected to participate in the delivery of a high-quality Ultrasound service. The case-mix will include gynaecological, general abdominal, DVT and small parts ultrasound examinations. As part of this post, you will be supported through your clinical placement by our highly specialised team of sonographers.

The successful candidates are required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values, In particular, you should have proven experience of working in a team-based clinical environment with patients, a positive work attitude, excellent oral and written communication skills, a high standard of timekeeping and computer skills.
