The Operational Services at the Bowen Hospital is seeking applications for an Operational Services Officer (Mixed Skills) to join their team on a casual basis.

Your opportunity

This position will be responsible for providing support services for a patient centred health care environment including cleaning, linen services, food services assistant, removal of waste, transportation of equipment and materials around the hospital. This position will require the ability to achieve the required quality and safety standards that are set within the department initiative and sound judgement, exercise a degree of autonomy and to work with and provide support for supervisor operational service. This position is on a 14-day rotating roster with various day shifts including weekends.

About the Team

Bowen Hospital is a 20 Bed plus 9 chairs (renal and oncology) acute hospital which offers several specialty inpatients and outpatient services and a 24/7 emergency department.  Other services provided at the Bowen Hospital include speech pathology, physiotherapy, community mental health, pharmacy and radiography.  Whilst administrative services are located at Bowen Hospital, support services including Finance; Purchasing and Supply, Human Resources; Patient Safety, Quality Management, Occupational Health and Safety are located at Mackay Hospital with further support provided from Shared Services.

The Operational Services Department plays an important role in providing a 7 day a week service supporting the delivery of a quality and cost-effective health service. A wide range of functions are covered by the team, including cleaning, clinical support, facility maintenance coordination, food services, grounds maintenance, garden services, home care services, removal of waste, linen services, transport of equipment and materials around the hospital, stores, transport and ward services. This position will also be required to work with, and provide support and advice to the NUM, Clinical/Ward Team Leader and/or Business Manager.
