Children's Health Queensland provides services from key locations in the Brisbane metropolitan area and works with the 15 other hospital and health services as well as NGOs and charity partners in Queensland to deliver an integrated network of healthcare services and support across the state.

Your Opportunity:

Our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is seeking a Paediatric Intensive Care Specialist interested in an opportunity to fill a permanent or fixed-term temporary Staff Specialist position.

Our state-of-the-art 22-30 bed PICU admits 1800 patients, provides around 30 extracorporeal life support (ECLS) runs, provides advice and coordinates transport for approximately 2000 paediatric patients statewide, and retrieves over 800 critically unwell paediatric patients annually.

We offer a unique opportunity for you to join our medical team of 16 Paediatric Intensive Care Specialists and 32 trainees (from various colleges eg. CICM, RACP, ACEM), to

  • provide expertise and excellence in child and family-centred Paediatric Intensive Care medicine,
  • participate in driving our outstanding training and teaching program,
  • participate in review and improvement activities,
  • contribute to Australia and New Zealand's leading and world-class paediatric critical care research program, work in a transformative, interdisciplinary and professional team environment,
  • foster an integrated environment of positive culture, wellness and diversity, 
  • provide statewide advice and retrieval coordination via the Children's Health Queensland Retrieval Service (CHQRS), to improve the experience and outcomes of Queensland's critically unwell children.
