An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Nurse within the Paediatric Critical Care Unit to lead and deliver person centred nursing care at an advanced level based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse Standards for Practice. 

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north. 

The Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) is a 4-bed unit. The SCUH Paediatric CCU provides a level 4 service and will increase its capability to provide a level 5 service in the future.

The unit provides a full 24 hours a day, seven days a week level 4 intensive care service.

The PCCU provides dedicated specialist expertise and resources for the care and support of children and their families, using the skills of medical, nursing, and allied health staff qualified and experienced in the management of critically ill children.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being understood to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 6, Band 1 and the Queensland Public Service values.
  • Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.

Remuneration value up to $114,931 p.a., comprising salary rates $52.86 - $56.60 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 6 (1)) (part time position, up to 72 hrs p.f.).
