About you:

In your new role you will…

  • Demonstrate ability to provide care to paediatric inpatients and their families, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal women admitted to the maternity unit, low acuity medical outlie patients and unexpected antenatal assessments or labour presentations.
  • Display proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan and implement and evaluate patient care.
  • Possess knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities, including ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice.
  • Demonstrate ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and stakeholder, including participation in relevant networks.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will deliver competent, quality direct nursing/midwifery care through the application of best practice and education. The role will include participation in the multidisciplinary team to co-ordinate care for paediatric inpatients. The Registered Nurse/Midwife will also work with the Midwifery Group Practice to care for pregnant, birthing and postnatal women having care at Mareeba Hospital.

About your role:

  • Responsible and accountable for supervision and the delegation of nursing/midwifery activity to EN's and others.
  • Accountable for the planning, provision and communication of nursling/midwifery care to an allocated group of clients, including the evaluation and required revision of practice based on agreed priorities, goals, plans and outcomes.
  • Applies foundation theoretical and practical knowledge and skills and evidence-based guidelines based on established body of professional precedents, to a range of nursing/midwifery activities to achieve agreed client goals.
  • Uses effective communication skills to engage others in a mature, confident manner to achieve positive client outcomes, including providing information and/or advice on clinical issues within the registered nurse/registered midwife scope of practice.
