About the role

It is the purpose of this role to provide advanced clinical practice in a nursing model of care and be trained in expanded skills under clinical supervision to become an autonomous clinician using diagnostics, prescription, treatment and referral in Burns management.

Through completion of relevant education preparation and experiential learning, the Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) will develop an expanded scope of practice that will result in endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner (NP). The NPC Burns will function in accordance with relevant legislation and national standards and will work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to ensure the provision of comprehensive, individualised quality patient care to patients within the Surgery & Perioperative Service.

The NPC is supported by documentation of clinical learning and competency and academic achievement. The NPC position is grounded in the nursing professions values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible healthcare delivery that compliments the entire health care system.
