About your opportunity

An opportunity is on offer within the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Team, part of the Mental Health Service Group in the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

The aims of the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and Addictions Service are to provide a rapid consultative service (assessments and interventions) to inpatients that may have mental health problems and to aid patients who do not suffer major mental health problems but whose acute and chronic conditions affect their emotional equilibrium and sense of well-being.

Skills and experience:

  • Advanced level skills in developing and implementing clinical pathways of care, referral processes and collaborative case management models
  • Ability to actively identify and manage access for the client group to timely and appropriate specialist assessment and intervention, particularly in a general hospital setting.
  • Determine, promote and develop the research potential of the clinical specialty within a multidisciplinary environment to support improved patient care and best practice processes.
  • Advanced leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and change management skills to ensure person-centred service provision amongst the multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated leadership and negotiation skills to enhance working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team, utilising a high level of communication skills for problem solving and decision making.
  • Ability to network and liaise with all divisions within the hospital to co-ordinate and monitor the development, implementation and evaluation of patient care.

Generous remuneration package value up to $159,899 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $128,701 to $159,899 p.a. (Nurse Grade 7)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. All employees of the Mental Health Service Group (MHSG) may be required to work in other areas of the Service • Highly Desirable:
    • Relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing.
    • Credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN). If not Credentialed with ACMHN or willingness to undertake and complete the requirements for certification as Credentialed Mental Health Nurse.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
