TheMackay Hospital and Health Service ( https://www.mackay.health.qld.gov.au/ )(MHHS), is a critical public health service in regional Queensland, covering an expansive region of approximately 90,000km2 and serving a population of around 182,000 people. With a commitment to delivering Queensland's Best Rural and Regional Health Care, the MHHS operates six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services, and four community health centers, employing over 3,700 staff. MHHS is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide strategic leadership of their Digital and Information Services.

The CIO will provide a crucial role in fostering a robust digital health culture within the organisation. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a digital health strategy, overseeing ICT and Information Security strategies, and providing strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team.

You will oversee 4 digital streams including the Digital Health Solutions (ieMR Teams), Health Information Services (including Clinical Coding and Audit), Informatics and Insights (Data Analytics and Reporting) and Communication Technology (ICT Operations) teams. You will provide leadership and governance for the ICT and digital solutions portfolio, developing a positive organisational culture. You will align technology and information service management with organisational strategies and ensure effective relationships across the HHS.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in senior ICT and technology management roles, demonstrating expertise in delivering complex digital transformation initiatives as well as ICT operations. Strong leadership and operational planning capabilities, along with a deep understanding of the digital health landscape, are key to succeeding in this role. You will also show experience in managing budgets and contracts and resources to ensure an appropriate balance between operational, tactical, and strategic demands. Furthermore, you will have expert stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to foster internal and external relationships, drive organisational change, and contribute to state-level initiatives.
