There has never been a more exciting time to join the paediatric workforce in the Emergency Department (ED) at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). We are looking for enthusiastic and committed registered Nurses to join our expanding team.  
If you are a registered children’s Nurse with an interest in emergency care, we will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to develop yourself into a highly skilled Paediatric Emergency Care Nurse. 
 
The Nursing team works closely with our incredible team of Paediatric Emergency Medicine Consultants, Advanced Care Practitioners, Emergency Nurse Practitioners and CAMHS Team to provide a supportive working environment filled with opportunities to learn and further your career.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO
 
The children’s emergency and trauma centre see’s approximately 30,000 children and young people each year. The purpose build service is a standalone department offering the following facilities – an acute assessment area with 11 glass fronted separate cubicles, an observational play area, a safe room, an 8 bedded separate paediatric short stay unit, children’s X-ray and a treatment/procedural sedation room as well as a dedicated Paediatric resuscitation bay within our Adult ED resus room. 
 
You will form an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team providing excellent, high-quality care to our paediatric population. You will be providing a high standard of individualised patient care demonstrating the Trust values through your work. 
Within a large teaching hospital, we are also the regional children’s major trauma centre.

Getting to Work

Application can be made for parking on site at UHS or through one of the park and ride schemes. This will be based on specific criteria to determine eligibility for site parking as this can be very limited.  UHS encourages staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible. UHS is well connected through bus services to the city centre and other areas.
