The NHS Highland Board’s catchment area comprises the largest and most sparsely populated part of Scotland (over 12,000 square miles, which represents over 40% of the land mass of Scotland) serving a population of over 300,000.

The role of the Learning and Development Facilitator is to facilitate the professional development and competence of social care staff. The role enhances and supports the development of practice learning environment across the organisation and contributes to the professional development and continuous improvement of the workforce.

This post holder will be responsible  for leading on, implementing, co-ordinating, and monitoring the developing learning and development framework across Highland, and ensure that members of staff are supported to complete the necessary training to practice safely and retain full registration with the SSSC.

The post holder will develop, plan and contribute to the delivery of NHS Highland Adult Social Care learning in partnership with local learning providers and partner agencies in line with national and local strategic priorities.

The role contributes to help assure that the quality of training delivery is meeting national standards and the post holder will act as the Senior Social Care Learning and Development Adviser in NHS Highland in  matters relating to Social Care professional development.

In order to be able to carry out the duties of this post effectively and safely, candidates will be able to provide evidence of experience in learning and development, especially with organising, supporting, assessing and reviewing learning activities.

Applicant must have good communication skills – both verbally and in writing. An SVQ Level 4 in Care or educated to degree level in a relevant subject and evidence of experience in the role.
