About us:

Adult Acute Mental Inpatient Unit (AMHIU) cares for people over the age of 18 years who require inpatient care for treatment of mental health conditions. The AMHIU is located on the Rockhampton Hospital campus and comprises of 20 Low Dependency beds and 3 High Dependency beds.

Older Persons Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit (OPMHIU) provides acute care and management for older people (generally over 65) who have severe mental health disorders and require inpatient admission. The OPMHIU is located on the Rockhampton Hospital campus and comprises of 8 beds.

About the role:

The purpose of this position is to:

  • Provide occupational therapy assessment and treatment to individual consumers within the Mental Health inpatient units in Rockhampton.
  • Facilitate the provision of therapeutic programs (psycho-educational, recreational, life skills) within the Mental Health Inpatient Unit, with emphasis on enhancing consumers' ongoing access to rehabilitation and recovery programs after discharge.
  • Work with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide coordinated inpatient care and ensure safe transition of care to the community settings.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • A tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a current annual practicing certificate.
  • A base level of knowledge, expertise, and skill in delivery of adult mental health services.
  • The ability to develop and evaluate programs, and to continually improve the quality of programs.
  • The ability to participate in a team using effective communication skills.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $128,706 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary between $42.40 - $56.89 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
