The Emergency Department at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for an Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager is a registered nurse who supports and works collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manger role of a defined unit or specific patient/client area.  This role provides leadership and direction to nursing staff and is responsible for the facilitation and provisions of operations and Human Resource Management consistent with contemporary standards and best practice within the Emergency Department.

About the Team

The Emergency Department (ED) is a level 4 (Clinical Services & Capabilities Framework). The ED provides 24-hour 365-day service for the reception, assessment, treatment, observation, admission and discharge of adults and children with urgent and non-urgent illnesses. This includes:

  • The management of medical and surgical conditions;
  • The management of trauma patients;
  • The management of paediatric illnesses (medical, surgical and orthopaedic);
  • The management of psychiatric illnesses – adult and paediatric;
  • The management of obstetric and gynaecological cases;
  • The extended observation and management of patients in dedicated short-term treatment area;
  • The management of patients following sexual assault.
