The role  
Reporting to the Director, Health Funding Innovation, you will be overseeing all facets of policy development and project management, including prioritisation, risk management, and timely delivery of results. Your role will involve leading the analysis and provision of insights into trends in healthcare fund, offering strategic advice on health policies and interventions based on clinical and economic evidence. 

Additionally, you will lead the development of innovative funding models, prepare complex reports and submissions, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships to support strategic funding initiatives. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, providing high-level support to relevant committees, and managing team performance are integral aspects of this role, aligning with the core values and contemporary policies of the Department of Health.

The successful person
To excel in this position, you must demonstrate a record of accomplishment of providing strategic-level advice in health research or policy settings and delivering complex, substantial reports effectively. Your proficiency in project management, particularly in coordinating departmental activities and responses, is crucial. Moreover, possessing a deep understanding of the Australian health system, including value-based healthcare, and the ability to apply analytical and innovative approaches to strategic policy development are essential. Your capacity to work independently, lead a team, and swiftly acquire knowledge of key healthcare concepts like value-based healthcare theory, the National Health Reform Agreement, consumer enablement, and data science will be critical. Additionally, your strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with various internal and external stakeholders to drive organizational priorities forward are imperative.

Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance (HPSP) Division is responsible for purchasing public health and social services from service providers to optimize health gains, reduce inequalities and maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the health system.

The division works with service providers and other areas within the department to ensure health funding is used effectively to meet government priorities and achieve performance objectives outlined in agreements and contracts arising from purchasing decisions.
