Aberdeen City has strived to develop multi-agency, multi-disciplinary drug and alcohol services to provide a more holistic, responsive and adaptive service to proactively engage with people with complex multiple needs. An exciting opportunity has emerged to develop a specialist psychology service to the Aberdeen City Drug and Alcohol Service offering support to individuals with problematic substance use and co-occurring mental health issues. This post will have a remit to support service development to respond to those who present with multiple, complex needs.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly compassionate psychologist who is interested to develop their skills and experience of working within the area of substance use. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to service developments, supporting the wider workforce including health, social care and third sector partners through the delivery of training and governance to support safe and effective delivery of psychological and trauma informed and skilled interventions. In addition to supporting the wider workforce you will also have an integral role in further developing the specialist psychology team within the Aberdeen City Drug and Alcohol Service. You will have an opportunity to further develop clinical skills through the delivery of enhanced and specialist Psychological Therapies to support those presenting with complex co-occurring mental health issues and substance use.

An attractive relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available to successful candidates

Interviews will take place on the 26th of April 2024.

Suitable candidates should have an honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above), a Doctorate Qualification in Clinical Psychology or equivalent and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Although the post is full-time, part time hours will be considered.
