Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Band 8a) Tier 4 Complex Cases

Part of the Tier 4 Adult Mental Health (Complex Cases) service working in the community Permanent contract22.5 hours per weekAligned with Aberdeenshire HSCP

This is an incredibly meaningful and rewarding opportunity to join the newly established Tier 4 service working with complex presentations and delivering much needed psychological input in supported and residential care settings in Aberdeenshire. You will gain exposure to working with complex and stimulating client work, whilst working alongside and supported by a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of colleagues from psychology, psychiatry, nursing and the allied health professions. This post is primarily working with clients in the community who live in supported, or residential accommodation, where there is a risk, or the placement has already broken down and will be working with different care teams in a variety of locations throughout Aberdeenshire. As a valued and important member of the team, you will play a proactive role in helping to develop and shape this new service offering.

Some key aspects of this role are to: 

Assist in providing a high-quality clinical service for complex presentations in supported and residential accommodation in the community,Offering specialist advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other non-professional carers,Be part of a service which provides team formulation to staff working with clients in supported and residential accommodation,Supporting care planning and facilitating strategies to reduce stress and distress,Providing support and advice to MDT colleagues involved in the care of the people using this service,Making links with the adult inpatient wards and offering consultation with ward based staff,Proving training in working with complex presentations to staff in supported and residential accommodation,Contribute to robust evaluation of our service, and any associated quality improvement, audit and research activities 

Interview expenses are available to all candidates and an attractive relocation allowance of up to £8000 may available to successful candidates.

There are good opportunities to become involved in teaching and research activities via well established links with Aberdeen University Departments of Mental Health, Psychology, and General Practice and Primary Care. There will be an opportunity to offer clinical placements for trainees undertaking doctoral training on the University of Edinburgh/NHS Scotland Clinical Psychology Training Programme.
