The Position The Consultant Paediatrician delivers specialised paediatric services to the local population. The role requires effective collaboration within the Paediatric Unit and a large multidisciplinary team, offering services encompassing acute, emergency, inpatient, outpatient, primary health, and community support. Additionally, the position may involve providing consulting outreach services to East Gippsland and may be a shared role with the same region.
The Location Situated 215 km to the east of Melbourne, this city serves as a convenient gateway to the stunning Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach, and the Victorian Alps. The city has a mix of historical and contemporary elements. The city is well-connected by road and is a stop along the Princes Highway. The railway station provides train services connecting the city to Melbourne. Additionally, the nearby airport supports regional air travel. The Facility The facility operates across three campuses, offering comprehensive services that include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, and oncology and dialysis services. Additionally, the hospital provides general medical and sub-acute services, including rehabilitation. A variety of roles, both clinical and non-clinical, are available in nursing, medical, allied health, community care, administration, and pharmacy, among others. As a teaching hospital, it is affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health, offering placements and clinical experience for students.
Level 4 Obstetric service with a capability of 34 weeks

ED presentations were 16,600 of which approximately 25% are paediatric.
Operates a community paediatrics clinic 5 days/week and outreach services
The Requirements
Primary medical qualification registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or assessed by the college as suitable for the position.
Substantial and proven experience in general paediatric medicine at a senior level and within a community consulting practice and a hospital based setting
Substantial and proven experience in neonatal resuscitation and neonatology
