The Location:
Only a few hours’ drive north of Brisbane this facility is situated on QLD’s beautiful coast line on the door step of some of the best beaches in the world and near to an internationally recognised natural wonder. The location is a major tourist attraction in itself so the local infrastructure is extremely well developed including good restaurants, shopping, private schools and a wide range of activities.
The Facility:
There are two facilities covering the main areas of population at which you will be based. The first is a modern, 137-bed facility providing acute services, including operating theatres, general surgery, day procedure unit, 24-hour emergency department, intensive and coronary care, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, midwifery, orthopaedic surgery, pathology, medical imaging, renal dialysis, cardiac rehabilitation, pharmacy, internal medicine, oncology services, endocrinology, specialist outpatients, population health and onsite breast screening. The second is an 88-bed facility providing sub-acute inpatient services to the region. It provides internal medicine; perioperative; accident and emergency, general surgery, a mental health unit, gynaecology, orthopaedic surgery, urology; pathology, medical imaging and pharmacy.
From a clinical perspective the hospital services a varied demographic including a local population of around 80,000 on top of which there are up to 1,000,000 tourists per year.

Working in this busy, state of the art public hospital surgery Department you will enjoy lots of consultant and senior medical officer support, so it is great place to learn and develop.
Your Profile:
Ideally the hospital are looking for either an SRMO or Registrar with at least 6 months Australian or UK General Medicine experience at Registrar level or someone who has been assessed as ‘partially comparable’ about the college.
