Are you looking for a new and exciting role as part of a dynamic team?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join Aberdeen City HSCP Alcohol and Drugs Service. This post is currently being offered 37 hours per week as a permanent position.

You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a highly specialised clinical pharmacy service to support people who are seeking treatment for their alcohol and drug use, many of whom will have co-morbid mental health illness. This will include a non-medical prescribing role, review of medicines and ensuring that necessary monitoring requirements are undertaken.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to influence and develop the role while actively improving the health of an often-disadvantaged group of people. As such you will to take a lead role in the team advising on and delivering high quality, evidence based pharmaceutical care and advice in line with national clinical guidance. Current innovations include development and implementation of services to meet the proposed national Medicines Assisted Treatment (MAT) standards and development of an Outreach Team to engage with people at the highest risk of drug related harm. Strengthening links with local community pharmacies, hospital services and primary care colleague's will be key to your success.

You will be an experienced pharmacist with good clinical knowledge and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multidisciplinary environment. You will have a good understanding of the unique pressures that are faced by people who use drugs or alcohol, provide a patient centred approach to care and challenge stigma where it arises.

You will also be required to take an active role in the supervision and training of staff and students, to act as a role model and to participate in audit and research. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to complete the Aston Postgraduate Certificate in Psychiatric Therapeutics if this is an outstanding learning need.

The post will primarily be based in NHSG drug and alcohol sites in Royal Cornhill Hospital and the Timmermarket Clinic.

The post may also require delivery of care offsite e.g. with the outreach team in various locations across Aberdeen City. You will be supported by the senior Specialist Pharmacists in Substance Use and Medicines Management.

An attractive relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available to successful candidates

Informal enquiries about this post should be directed to Fiona Raeburn or Lucy Skea. We are largely working from home but are happy to call you back. Email: [email protected].

Interviews are planned for Wednesday 17th April 2024
