The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Forensic Medicine) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Perform independent forensic procedure and examinations of assault complainant and person of interest
• Prepare medico-legal reports that are impartial, factual and of high quality for the courts
• Provide expert nursing consultation and participate in multidisciplinary decision-making forums to provide representation for nursing and the clinical unit
• Complete targeted forensic histories, ensuring accurate and detailed documentation

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent  
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Temporary full time, temporary part time (until 30/11/2024, with the possibility of extension, hours negotiable)
• Base salary ranging from $64.90 - $70.47 per hour

The Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service Forensic Medicine Unit is a clinical service providing forensic medical care to patients in the Gold Coast areas. It is an independent clinical forensic medical service to the Queensland Police Service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Courts, the Coroner, and the legal profession.
