About Us:

The Perioperative Unit is located in block seven in the West Wing of Gladstone Hospital. The Gladstone Hospital has two operating rooms and a procedure room. Services include elective and emergency surgery, Day Surgery, Pre-Anaesthetic Clinic, and Central Sterile Supply Department. The Perioperative Unit provides clinical care through the development and maintenance of relevant and proven patient care standards involving ongoing research in clinical applications.

About the Role:

  • It is the purpose of this role to demonstrate nursing competence in the provision of nursing care to day surgery patients in the role of day surgery nurse.
  • Undertake delegated and delegate activities while assuming individual accountability for actions within the position and context of practice.
  • Demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by registration requirements, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation, and context of care.
  • Deliver a high standard of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation by using clinical nursing/midwifery expertise.
  • Integrate nursing and health care knowledge, skills, and attitude specific to interdisciplinary learning by supporting a learning environment and participating in learning activities/opportunities.

About You:

To be successful in this role you must have:

Mandatory qualification/s: Current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Proven Ability to critically think in relation to planning and responding to a potentially rapidly changing environment regarding safe patient centred care.
  • Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities, including ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the National and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Registered Nurse (RN) Standards for Practice.
  • Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
  • The ability to lead activities required as part of contribution towards the CQHHS Nursing and Midwifery Professional Practice Model (PPM).

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $117,580 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A hourly rate between $40.51 - $51.97 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
